Kaithal was made a district in1989 including some part of Kurukshetra & Jind district. In 2011, Civil Hospital, Kaithal was upgraded to Newly Indira Gandhi Multi Speciality Hospital Kaithal which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda . The hospital is providing 24 hour emergency services, operation Theatre, Laboratory services, X-ray, ECG facilities, Ultra sound, Blood bank, 102 Referral Transport.
The Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) was started here from 8 August 2024 and is providing treatment in the form of free of cost medicines and counselling to its patients with the support of National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) ,AIIMS Delhi under the support and supervision of ministry of Social Justice and Employment, Government of India. Through the initiative, NDDTC provides drug treatment services for all types of drug users in keeping with the established standards of care and treatment. It has dedicated inpatient and outpatient services to provide by trained Health Professionals. Our ATF Centre has been structured in a way , which is headed by the Nodal Officer and the other staff members such as one Medical Officer, two Counsellor, one nurse and one data manager. Most of the patients also require consultation from other specialists, which is also arranged appropriately. Here at our centre, we offers a range of evidence based management that includes detoxification, long term maintenance therapy, individual , Group and family counselling , relapse prevention therapy and aftercare support. In view of better treatment,, guidance and a successful recovery, we also offer In - patient facility in which we have 10 dedicated bed for them where intensive care takes place. Our centre also takes the accountability through regular follow-ups of the patients, providing medicine dispensing on daily or weekly basis accompanied by counselling session and relapse prevention programs. At our centre ,we believe in a holistic approach to the addiction treatment . We address not only physical aspects of addiction but also the psychological ,emotional and social factors that contribute to it . We regularly conduct mental health awareness, programme and campaign at various places such as - schools, NGO , Red Cross society , Colleges PHC and Sub Divisional Civil Hospitals etc. We also conduct liaison with the other department to increase the awareness and treatment facilities through ATF.
